Mrs. Deborah Marcotte
Welcome to the fourth grade! My name is Ms. Marcotte. I am looking forward to being your teacher this year. I graduated in May of this year with a teaching credential from St. Mary’s College. I am currently working on my masters in teaching at St. Mary’s. This will be my second year with St. Felicitas, and I am delighted to meet you and your families. I also welcome Ms. Valles who will be working with in the classroom with me everyday.
My philosophy as a teacher includes many traits that I strongly believe in. First and foremost, when I decided that teaching was the career path I wanted to pursue, I already had an idea of what I wanted to impart to my future students. It is an honor and a privilege to be able to make a difference in a child’s life, and it is always important to remember that you have chosen to entrust me to take care of your child or children. May you always know that I value each and every one of the students as being special and that I will always try my best to ensure that they are seen and heard.
My job as a teacher is to not dictate to the students, but rather foster a community that we build together. Certainly, they will need to feel that I am the leader, but they need to know that I am there to guide them so that they can grow, and flourish as the unique individuals that they are. I want to celebrate their strengths with them, and show them that they can accomplish anything they set their mind to. They will know that our classroom is an environment where they are free to make mistakes as how you learn is by “getting the wrong answer” as well as “getting the right answer”. They are equally important.
When I am not spending time with my active boys or beloved dog Gracie, I can be found gardening, hiking, cooking, reading, going to the gym, or hanging out with friends.
